This blog entry is, counter to what you might think, not about Waffle House hashbrowns. It is about the Christian arts. And I hate to even call it a “blog entry,” for, in the realm of all-things-blog, the word ‘entry’ seems rather formal and official to me. It’s hardly even a musing. It’s merely an observation and a question. I’ll let you muse it.

So, to amuse myself, I googled “Christian arts,” just to see what came up. And, surprisingly, this lovely looking website appeared, dedicated to The National Endowment for the Christian Arts. I thought, wow. Someone’s doing the hard work of getting a conversation going about what it means to make Christian art

And, by the way, it doesn’t look like this:

or this…

and this doesn’t count either…

But, the NECA, despite having the appearance of a legit, promising site, is empty. Click on News, and there is no news. Click on Upcoming Events, and there are none. Click on About Us, and nothing appears there either. And, this makes me wonder whether the NECA actually exists, and if they do, what are they doing to further Christian arts?

The Sundry Folk Festival is our small contribution to the local worship arts and our way of celebrating the One who inspired it all.
